5 Android apps you shouldn’t miss this week – Google Play Weekly

Welcome back to Google Play Weekly! We have a lot of awesome news this week and it’s our first big week since Google I/O where Google doesn’t dominate the headlines. In our first bit of amazing news, it’s been confirmed that the Xposed Framework is coming to Android L. Google Search lets you use the command “no, I said” to correct mistaken words now. Some bad news from the Play Store includes the Android L Keyboard being pulled because it violated the terms of service. Facebook is testing out a new Android L-style lock screen notification which actually looks kind of cool. Last but not least, Modern Combat 5 finally has a release date and it’s July 24th. Now let’s get to five Android apps you shouldn’t miss this week.

LokLok

[Price: Free]
First up this week is LokLok. This unique messaging service essentially puts a whiteboard on your lock screen. You then edit, draw, or add pictures to it and it syncs with a friends phone which shows them the exact same thing you see. It’s a fun, quick way to send messages just don’t send anything private because it’ll show up right on the lock screen. It’s free to use so why not?

Talon for Twitter

[Price: $1.99]
Next up is Talon for Twitter. The Talon devs made news this week when they introduced a new version of Talon that used the Material Design standard. It looks really slick but unfortunately it’s only for those running the Android L preview. They may incorporate some of this into the current app but it’s definitely something to keep an eye on once you get Android L.

Commandr

[Price: Free]
Commandr is an extremely useful app that’s been quickly gaining popularity over the last week. What it use is use Google Now’s “take a note” command to let you do things like turn your Bluetooth on and off or your WiFi on and off. It also has Tasker integration and if you use Google Now a lot, then this should be in your app drawer.

Chromecast App

[Price: Free]
The Chromecast app was updated this last week as a part of Google’s update Wednesday. The update will allow devices running Android KitKat 4.4.2 and up the ability to mirror their Android devices to their television using the Chromecast app and the Chromecast. This is a huge deal because it’s one of the very few ways to do this without root access and it’s one that’s done up by Google. If you don’t have a Chromecast, then this may be a good enough reason alone to own one.

Leo’s Fortune

[Price: $4.99]
Last and certainly not least this week is Leo’s Fortune. The game found fame before it was even released thanks to a demo displayed at Google I/O. Now the game is actually out and so far it rocks a 4.9 rating in the Google Play Store. For a game that’s $4.99, that’s pretty good. The graphics are colorful and fun and the game play is also colorful and fun. You’ve spent $5 on something you enjoyed less than you’ll probably enjoy this so we can’t find a reason not to give it a shot.
